Fundación América Solidaria opens its first office in Port au Prince
The NGO, wich work in coordination with GARR for the first time, opened a headquarter to centralize its job in sending young profesionals to HaitÃ.Since 2002 and until then, 130 youths have come to work on various projects in Haitisent by América Solidaria. For the first time since its inception, the NGO opened an office to coordinate its work.The Support Group for Refugees and Repatriated (GARR) started a partnership with América Solidaria in 2010. Since then, the foundation began its plan of sending with the volunteers. Past June, two professionals started supporting the work that the platform develops in the Department of Communication and Advocacy.At the opening ceremony in the new office, its new executive chief, Alessandro Lodi, talked in front of the ten organizations that take part of the project. « I hope during this new period we get to work to strengthen and expand in depth our work to the community, and establish real bonds of solidarity between us, » he said.Currently, the Chilean NGO maintains 60 volunteers working in 17 institutions from 7 countries in Latin America and the Caribbean.
